Lavender Electrolysis is a hair removal business based in Portland, Maine. My goal is permanent hair removal with treatments customized on a person to person basis. I can treat anything from a few scattered hairs to larger treatments like underarms or preparation for surgery.
Services + Pricing
Electrolysis can be performed on most areas of the body, from chin hair to underarms or even chest hair. I also offer services for transgender individuals preparing for surgery.
Electrolysis is best suited to smaller patches of hair as it is more time intensive. For larger patches of hair, especially those that are dark in color, I recommend laser hair removal. Please reach out if you’re wondering if electrolysis is the best option for your situation.

Initial Consultation – $60
Consults include 15 minutes of electrolysis.

What machine do you use for treatments?
I use the Apilus xCell Pur, which is currently one of the most advanced electrolysis machines available. For more information, visit the Dectro website.
Should I choose Electrolysis or Laser Hair Removal?
The answer varies depending on the individual’s situation. Generally, laser hair removal is most effective on darker, more pigmented hairs and is not as successful in treating lighter hair. While laser can cover larger areas more quickly than electrolysis, it offers only semi-permanent results, whereas electrolysis is a fully permanent solution.
For those with a significant amount of dark, pigmented hair, I often recommend starting with laser treatments to thin the hair, followed by electrolysis for permanent removal. If you have additional questions or would like my current recommendations for laser hair removal, please feel free to reach out.
What Payment Methods do you accept?
I accept payments in cash, check, or credit/debit card, including contactless card options. Please note that a 3% fee applies to all credit/debit card transactions. At this time, I do not accept payments via Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, or other money transfer services.
Do you treat transgender people?
Absolutely, I have extensive experience working with transgender clients, providing facial hair removal and assisting with surgical preparation. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment, embracing individuals from all backgrounds.
Should I do anything before treatment?
Yes! It is essential to allow your hair to grow out prior to treatment. I typically recommend approximately five days of growth. Since electrolysis involves removing the hair after it is treated, there must be sufficient length for me to effectively grasp and extract the hair afterward.
Electrolysis may cause mild skin irritation. To minimize this, I recommend avoiding creams, treatments, or products that could heighten irritation for several days before and after the procedure. This includes retinol/retinal treatments and any products containing salicylic or hyaluronic acid.
Do you take insurance?
At this time I do not work with any insurance companies. If your insurance offers reimbursement for electrolysis I am happy to create an itemized invoice for you to submit to your insurance.
